How to Extend the Volume or Partition from Unallocated Free Space After Shrinking

It is sometimes seen that after shrinking the partition , people become upset if shrinking is not done correctly like if they don't enter the right amount to shrink the partition or volume, so now don't worry it is not difficult. Follow these steps.

STEPS

  1. Open the disk management.

  2. You can see in above picture that there is an unallocated free space. I wanted to eqaully divide the Entertainment (E:) Partition into two parts but i enter wrong amount during shrinking and new unallocated free space became 17.47 GB.

Select and Right click on Entertainment (E:) partition and it will show options , select Extend the Volume

  3. After selecting extend volume , it will show you another window

  4. Select the amount in MB  (1GB=1024MB).Now there are situations here.
First if you don't want new unalloated free space available for new partition then maximum amount in Mb, in my case as above shown is 17891MB. It removes the unallocates free space.
Second if you want to take some amount from unallocated free space. Then enter the amount as required by you.
  5. I am going for first option. I entered the maximum amount in MB and pressed ,a window opened like this. click finish and its done
